Hi, I'm Scotty. Released from federal prison in 2021
Hey friends. This group is a work in progress. It's primary purpose (for now) is to simply network with other creators, inspire each other, make friends, find accountability partners, & learn cool content secrets.
Social media can be a lonely journey. Use the tabs above to introduce yourself, & or let people know where you are in the world :)
It also offers a free guide in the classroom showing an overview on the tools & systems I use to maximize my results on social media with minimal views.
In any case, here is my intro:
The success stories are everywhere. Young guys driving Lambos on TikTok. Social media gurus who film themselves making a sandwich and get 10 million views.
For some of us, however, it doesn't come easy.
I've been internet marketing since 2011. Like many of you, all I ever wanted was to be "free".
To "live life on my own terms".
The only problem... Well, I was not very good at it.
I was living in Las Vegas at the time and was making no money online, so I found a job on Craigslist doing phone sales. It was miserable, but I earned just enough to survive.
Turns out, the company I worked for was run by a group of folks with... Shall we say "questionable business practices".
When I started to notice the red flags, I considered quitting, buuuut I didn't. I was finally starting to get good at sales.
That was a big mistake.
As I turned a blind eye, I also became complicit.
The FBI raided that company in 2013, but they weren't after me. Afterall, I was just an employee. Right...?
I walked out of there, and decided I would never again work for a place like that. I moved back to Reno and decided it was time to go all in on myself.
I had my first success online in 2014 when I started an ecommerce business in the action sports niche. I used Instagram automation to drive sales.
From there, I developed other businesses too. It was going well. I focused on social media, paid ads, automation, messenger bots, optimizing my sales funnels, and much more. I got good at it.
All my dreams were finally coming true...
Then, in 2016 there was a knock on the door.
Next thing I knew, I was being interrogated by the FBI. Turns out, what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas...
They were building a case on the Vegas fraudsters the whole time. I was indicted as a co-conspirator. You can see the full prison story here:
Like a professional athlete who gets a career ending injury right before going pro, all my goals and dreams evaporated instantly when the FBI knocked on my door.
But... The legal process is long.
"Living life on my own terms" and "being free" was a nice fairy tale, but that was over.
The goal changed.
It wasn't about me anymore.
Problem was... If I ended up in prison, the businesses I had at the time would not be sustainable without me.
I had to start dissolving the business.
But there was another problem.
I had a small team including my gf, and friend, who would lose their income after I was gone. My gf has a son and she would not be able to provide/keep up with the bills with a "normal job" salary.
I needed to do something.
The plan was simple.
It was 2018.
I would start a new drop shipping/affiliate business from scratch.
Not some BS product that goes viral one time and only works for a month.
A REAL business with long term scalability.
I would build it using systems and strategies that were not dependent on me to run it.
I would teach my friend everything from A - Z.
We would split the business 50/50.
We would scale the biz to $80K per month within a year. (that was our goal number).
Then he would run it while I was gone.
Everyone would keep their income, and I would have a job to come back to after prison.
The plan worked. Flawlessly. We did it!
But it was bitter sweet. It was 2019. My time was up.
It was a 2 year sentence. Walking up to the prison gates, I felt proud that we pulled off the impossible and the people I cared about would be taken care of.
I had plans & systems. Plans and back up plans behind the backup plans to protect the business against any possible risks of failure.
Then... Covid.
Then... A phone call.
My friend/biz partner was in a car accident. His gf was tragically killed. The biz failed shortly after.
Naturally my friend fell into dark place. He lost everything. Far more than me. My gf was left as a jobless mother with no income and a failed dumpster fire business that I left her with. It's not easy to dissolve a business that had thousands of customers, loose ends, tax obligations, fulfillment obligations, etc.
She was super woman. She handled it all on her own. She started doing Instacart to stay afloat. Luckily, the pandemic kept Instacart busy and she was able to get by.
I was released from federal prison in 2021. Instacart was drying up as people started being less afraid to leave their homes again.
We were back at ground zero. Broke. Dreaming of a world where we could be "free". Only this time I was in my 30's, under a federal microscope, and owed over $11 million in restitution.
Lucky there was a new biz op that was trending.
Onlyfans.
She wanted to try it. With my marketing experience, I could probably give her an edge.
It worked. She became a top creator on the platform. Then I started documenting some of our strategies on YouTube.
Long story short, we were able to start putting the pieces back together.
Anyway, since my first little win in 2014, I've created many businesses in many niches including action sports, home improvement, health/wellness, spirituality, meditation, jewelry, adult, and so on.
I have experience with physical products, digital products, info products, high ticket products, low ticket products, subscription products, & hundreds of various sales, marketing, and traffic strategies.
I'm not the greatest content creator in the world.
BUT.
I am pretty good at creating profitable businesses with limited resources, and maximizing revenue with limited traffic which seems to be something big boyz are not so good at (because they don't have to be due to the sheer volume of views they get)
I'm not a "coach" or a "guru".
For now, I'm just using Skool as a platform to network, have fun, and hopefully help some people along the way.
Anyway, enough about me. What about you?
