Paid Course in Free Community?

I have a free community, but I want to monetize a course in the community. Is there a way to create the level system based on paid/subscription pricing?

Or is the only option at the moment creating a second community that is paid which contains the course? If that is the case can you create an upfront enrolment/join fee and then a lower monthly subscription cost?
