Is there any SEO plugin for wordpress which offers the most value in free version?

New in this arena. Completed the design part of my site. Posted 3 or 4 blog posts. Dreaming and hoping that this little passion of mine sees the daylight. But sometimes I get really really frustrated. While I think about using a seo plugin in wordpress for putting meta description and all that, only 2 or 3 features are offered by all of those, all other important and necessary features are confined to premium versions. Don't know how far will I be able to take my site. Common folk like me are like stones laying at sea beach.
