Consent mode google question?

Just had a call with my google rep. He asked if I needed help setting up consent mode on Google. He said it would greatly improve tracking. He mentioned how I should add a banner to ask permission for using cookies. I feel like that would make the page experience worse and decrease conversion rate, especially on mobile because it will literally cover the button to buy the product. I use hyros for tracking so I'm not too worried about the tracking quality without consent mode. Would you reccomend I set this up?
