It Doesn't Take Years to Change
There's a common saying that change takes time. Change can take weeks to years. I believe this is false. Change only takes a moment. It can happen outside in or inside out. Let me explain. On the outside in, change can occur when your environment drastically shifts. You are FORCED to 'do the behaviour'. But over time, you do this so frequently that it BECOMES a part of you. And it's not so bad. For example, once upon a time, computers were not accepted as a technology that would survive. Most people preferred the 'old' technology. It only took a few years for computers to advance to a point where it became impossible to conduct business without a computer. Eventually, computers became a house hold item. Now, computers are indispensable. Additionally, say you are used to driving your car to work. A new petrol tax forces you to cycle or take public transport to work instead. Initially, you're probably hesitant. It's annoying because you're used to the comfort of your car. But if you start cycling, you notice your body starts to feel better. Your heart beats smoother. You start to think with more clarity. Eventually, you shape up. You lose the 'few kgs' that you've been meaning to lose. Now you'd rather cycle to work than drive, even if the opportunity presented itself. This is an example of outside-in. The behaviour needed of you occurs first, EVEN if you don't want to do it. But eventually, the benefits of the behaviour can be felt, and it affects you within. Now let's look at inside-out. In the opposite sense, you internalise the mindset behind the behaviours first, before acting them out into the world. This is the most common teaching of the 'self-help' industry, where 'change comes from within.' For this 'spark' to occur inside, the individual has to experience something. It can be due to simple things like movies, books and motivational speeches. Or, it can be something heavy like the death of a loved one. But something will happen for the individual to change INSIDE.

Choice is the big one. You have to want the change for it to happen.
If In Doubt, Go Workout
Besides the brilliant word selection in the title, I believe this simple phrase has kept me healthy and free from anxiety for most of my life. Most of you know that exercise, no matter what form, helps with managing anxiety. Most of you might not know however, why that is, besides the 'happy hormone' effect. First, let me break down what anxiety can be characterised as. Anxiety is described as complex. However, in my mind - a simple definition comes to mind. Anxiety is a feeling of uneasiness or worry when there is uncertainty about an outcome. I like to extend this a touch further. Anxiety is a feeling of uneasiness or worry when there is a perceived lack of control about the outcome. Worrying about the uncertainty in an outcome is no different to worrying about whether you have CONTROL of the outcome... in my mind anyway. So the question is - why does working out seem to help with anxiety? There are a few reasons for this. The first, working out gives you an immediate sense of control. There is nothing more in your control than your body. Only you can choose to move your arm from one end of the table to another. Only you can choose to run for 10km. Only you can choose to get under a heavy weight. When you start to workout, your feeling of 'not having control' starts to disappear. And you will find that your anxiety comes down. This will make sense to most of you. In fact, many of you have likely experienced it already. However, I bet this next reason might not have crossed some of your minds. When you start to workout, you start to experience the sensory pain associated with training OVER the anxiety you might be feeling. Let me put it this way. If you stub your toe and it is hurting... one of the best ways to dull it... is to get slapped in the face. Now, you're more focused on your face hurting than your toe. When you are anxious, your senses are occupied with how the uneasiness feels. You might be controlled by the racing thoughts of 'what might happen.'

It's Time to Make your Impact.
Hey you! Thanks for being here. You are here because you want to make an impact with your life. You have people you wish to serve. It could be your friends, your family, your community, or the world. You believe life isn't just about you. Life is about helping others. In order to help the world, you also have to be at your best. And that's why I made this group. To give you the resources to be the impact maker you want to be. But that's not all... Making an impact is hard. It's even harder to do it alone. The self-made man/woman is a lie. Every hero needs their village. The stronger the village, the stronger the hero. In this group, you will have a community of individuals who are committed to helping others, as well as supporting each other in their goals. If you're new to the group, please introduce yourself with these three questions: 1. Why do you want to make an impact? 2. What do you want more support in? 3. How can you best support others in this group? I look forward to connecting with you all and watching you make your impact!

Hey team, Thanks for having me. A little bit about me. Why do you want to make an impact? I want to be a role model for my kids, a leader for my team, and hopefully, one day be remembered for having been the positive influence in the lives of those I care about. What do you want more support in? I’d love to see us support each other as a community and keep each other accountable. How can you best support others in this group? I’m always here to listen if anyone needs to vent or get stuff off their chest. I especially love chatting shop with all things business so if anyone ever wants to chat about business (literally any business) I'm here for it.
