PMP hat trick
Below is the mindset that I plan to use as the high-level remembering. It takes into account the Pareto principle and common themes. 18 PMP Mindset Principles 1. Always discuss, investigate, analyze, ask before deciding on a solution 2. Never settle for delays or extra costs. However, extra costs proceed delays 3. Be a servant leader! (encourage, care, nurture, listen and never create friction in the team) 4. Value is GOLD 5. Root cause analysis and MVP or Demo are your weapons 6. Any changes will go through a change request process (for predictive). There is no change request process for AGILE 7. Your team members are the experts, not you! Make every decision with them 8. The PM makes the decisions and handles the issues (no running to sponsors, management, or HR) NOTE: The Exam will mention the project sponsor many times. Only go to the sponsor when there is a problem with the budget (for example: money is running out) But going to the sponsor should be the last resort 9. Everyone directly or indirectly involved is a stakeholder and must be added to the register (stakeholder register) and how they impact the project. 10. No matter if the project is complete or terminated, the closing phase must occur (predictive) 11. In a predictive project, your plan is your map. Constantly refer back to it. 12. Predictive project keywords: Change control board (CCB), change control process 13. Agile project keywords: sprint, iteration, scrum, daily standup, backlog, Kanban, product increment, product owner/manager 14. When you or your team have no clue about what’s going on, a subject matter expert (SME) is what you need. OR you can refer to past projects in the lessons learned register 15. When transitioning from predictive to agile, introduce agile concepts slowly (pilot project, inception deck) 16. Agile projects are self-organizing – meaning teams are in charge however the PM can still step in to manage and resolve conflicts 17. An agile project will always need consistent feedback from the customer

What materials to purchase to pass PMP
Hi all, I am looking to pass my PMP within 2-3 months. I only have an hour or so a day to study. What materials do you suggest I use or purchase. I don’t want to purchase more than I need. Thank you so much for your help!

Hey Chad, I purchased the textbook but it was too much info to read through. Whatever path you choose, make sure to master the topics below: Agile project management (exam focuses mainly on this): - What is agile - Inverted triangle - Agile manifesto + principles - Agile development cycle - Value prioritization - Kanban development - Burnup, Burndown. velocity charts - Common spaces - Transition from predictive to agile Traditional project management: - What is tradition or predictive project management - Inverted triangle (for predictive) - PMP process groups (save this for the end. The PMP exam does not focus on this anymore. This topic is brutal to remember. If you want to study it just understand it don't memorize) Once you master the topics, practice on as many problems as possible. Here's the exam breakdown for 2024: 1. Situation-Based Questions: this includes questions like what should the PM do, what should the PM have done or what should the PM do first/next. The exam will not ask you a direct process group question. Instead, they might take a tool/technique and make a situation out of it. The majority of the exam is agile based. 2. Drag and drop: Maximum of 5 questions. Common topics: risk prioritization, matching the situation with the appropriate project approach (predictive, hybrid or agile) and conflict resolution techniques 3. SPI and CPI interpretation: Maximum of 2 4. Calculation: Earned value (usually just 1) 5. Burndown/Burnup or Velocity chart analysis: Just 1 In addition develop some mindset principles. These principles will allow you to eliminate answers immediately, which in turn will save you so much time. Mine are below: 1. Always discuss, investigate, analyze, ask before deciding on a solution 2. Never settle for delays or extra costs. However, extra costs precede delays 3. Be a servant leader! (encourage, care, nurture, listen and never create friction in the team) 4. Value is gold 5. Root cause analysis and MVP (minimal viable product) or demo are your main tools 6. Any change will go through a change request process (for predictive). There is no change request process (for agile) 7. Your team members are the experts, not you! Make every decision with them 8. The PM makes the decisions and handles the issues (no running to sponsors, management or HR). Note: The exam will mention project sponsor many times. ONLY go to the sponsor when there is a problem with the budget (example, money is running out) BUT going to the sponsor should be the last resort 9. Everyone directly or indirectly involved is a stakeholder and must be added to the register (stakeholder register) and how they impact the project 10. No matter if the project is completed or terminated, the closing phase must occur (predictive) 11. In a predictive project, your plan is your map. Constantly refer back to it 12. Predictive project keywords: change control board (CCB), change control process, preform integrated change control process 13. Agile project keywords: sprint, iteration, scrum, daily standup, backlog, Kanban, product increment, product owner/manager 14. When you or your team have no clue on what’s going on, a subject matter expert (SME) is what you need. Or, you can refer to past projects in the lessons learned register 15. When transitioning from predictive to agile, introduce agile concepts slowly (pilot project, inception deck) 16. Agile projects are self organizing - meaning teams are in charge however the PM can still step in to manage and resolve conflicts 17. An agile project will always need consistent feedback from the customer 18. Never immediately reject a request or an opportunity - especially from a client

I think I solved over 1000 questions and noticed some recurring patterns. And of course I've taken the exam and passed as well!
PMP Testing Help
Hello. I’m struggling with the PMP test. I did not think the test was that bad. I even remembered my formulas. But unfortunately I still did not pass. I have one more go of it. What do you recommend? My below target was Process. Any ideas would be greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

PMP Exam Update 2024
Hey everyone. I recently received some feedback from test takers on what to expect on the exam. Here's the breakdown: 1. Situation-Based Questions: this includes questions like what should the PM do, what should the PM have done or what should the PM do first/next. The exam will not ask you a direct process group question. Instead, they might take a tool/technique and make a situation out of it. The majority of the exam is agile based. 2. Practice on as many situation based questions as possible. Solidify the mindset at this point. Simply knowing the material is not enough. You need to apply the material to situational questions
