The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker
How we meet and Why it Matters. I bought this book years ago, new, on a hunch, which is really unusual for me. Last week someone suggested I watch 'Join or Die' on Netflix (i rarely watch anything on the tellyvision thing). Priya is in this doc and so I went back to the book and it's amazing, I'm 2 chapters in so I'll come back and expand when done. So far, it's everything I want to work for: Communities. People. Communication. Connection... The doc is facts about the decline of American health due to decline of people joining clubs and groups, and it too is based on 'Bowling Alone' a book by the inimitable Bob Putnam.

There's a feeling I get here which is unique and inviting, oblique and enticing...
Dialogue and Soul Writing
Hello all, great to be here in your community, thank you. As my profile says I'm mad about Dialogue in every sense of the word, and it's a word that translates as 'through' (dia) and 'meaning' (logos). As a professional dialogue facilitator I create and hold spaces for people to make meaning together, with better communication, especially in neurodiversity. Someone told me recently about a book-based project called Soul Writing by Joy Reichart. Have you read it or done it? I did the Morning Pages years ago but wondered if this is different. Anyway I'm really really really keen to get into fiction but people round me keep saying "you have to read a lot of fiction in order to write it" - I don't believe that! But then again I've not yet tried. I have just written a book though and it will be out in March. Ooh I've also got my memoirs nearly ready for publishing - no idea where though so might go KDP.... Have a great day. Excited to be here. Jonny 🫠

@Rebecca Erlewein Thanks so much for checking that out and your encouragement. I think "just start with that" is perfect. You should hear some of the stories! You know what's amazing is I don't think any writing is wasted, I learned this myself through over a decade of experience (although the 'morning pages' ethos would've been helping me in the background). When I spent 10 years writing my life story, when I finally got a deal for the non-fiction book, I used that stuff for it - all that reflection was really, really helpful. And now the non-fiction is feeding back into the ab so it's really self-generative. I'm very keen to publish the ab and need all the encouragement I can get. I'm going to have to slip people a few chapters for feedback, much in the same way as the nf proposal was dealt with.
