Welcome Aboard - Start Here - Introduce Yourself
Hey there, And a warm welcome to our vibrant community. This is where you start the journey towards making your dreams a reality. This community is not just about product management. Instead, it is about sharing your aspirations, your ambitions, your goals. And then learning the things that will help you achieve the same goals. And the best way to give back to those who helped you along the way is to pass it forward. Help others who are in similar situations as you were by guiding them and sharing the lessons that you learned in your journey So without further ado, let's do this. Let's do it together. Let's meet our professional goals and help others meet theirs. A short intro to this community: You will find three major sections: Community: where you can post and read all the posts on all topics (or choose to filter the ones that are of most interest) Classroom: this is where you will find all the courses and challenges. You will automatically have access to all the FREE resources and the paid courses that you've already bought. Events: this is where you can find a calendar of all the upcoming (and past events) you can RSVP, get access to sign up links and recordings. With that said, enough about the community, let's know you a little bit more. Tell us: - Where you’re from - What you do - What you’re looking to learn or achieve here - A fun fact about yourself Excited to grow and learn with you!

Hi everyone, I am Isha Sinha. I’ve been a part of the tech industry for the last 7 years. First 5.5 in the capacity of a software engineer and the rest 1.5 as a product manager. I am based out of Bangalore and work as a senior product manager in a virtualisation product. I’m looking forward to expanding my horizons by not restricting myself to a niche part of the market anymore. I would like to learn what it takes to land jobs at companies which handle products that I’ve loved using for so many years and were the reason I wanted to become a PM. I’m really passionate about singing. My insta handle - beta.ga.kar.dikhaana and link to my YT channel - https://youtube.com/@ishasinha0396?feature=shared

Day 1 - Assignment submission
Share the 3 things that help you standout as a PM job applicant. Feel free to use these thinking prompts: 1. What skills and qualities do I have as a professional that are important for a PM role? Which of them are not visible through my resume? 2. What values do I have as a person that make me a great fit for PM roles? 3. What can I learn about the company/role/hiring manager, that will help me make my application better? How can I find this information? 4. What unique experiences do I have that will make me stand out?

Firstly, great exercise. Having been in the same company for the last 7 years, I had been feeling quite under-confident to finally get on the wagon to prep for and ultimately start interviewing. One major fear in my head was - “What if I have nothing unique to offer?”. This exercise made me properly use the thinking prompts and list down what qualities I felt I possess and finally list the most important 3. I actually feel much more empowered to embark on this journey now. So thank you! Here goes my answer - I think the following the 3 are the skills and qualities that set me apart for a PM role - 1. With customers, I talk a lot about the problems they’re facing and close to nothing about the solution - It’s all about peeling the onion when you’re trying to get to the root of the outcome they want to achieve. It truly excites me to find that piece of the puzzle. Finding the solution comes second and is a stage where we can get creative and truly wear our innovator hats. Once the solution is released, the biggest marker becomes unprompted anecdotes from customers. If positive - I did something right. If negative - another opportunity to bend reality! 2. I am someone who’s not afraid to admit her areas of gaps - I have my own set of unique qualities that I bring to the table but my self awareness quotient is high and leads me to acknowledge my areas of gaps, too. This helps me collaborate genuinely - lend my expertise where I can and openly look to someone for guidance in cases of lack thereof, till I catch up. 3. High exposure early on - My current company is continuously looking for sound opportunities for acquisitions. With just 8 months of PM experience then, I was given the unique chance to research a potential acquisition and present my findings (understanding their tech, clientele analysis, pricing model) and a better together strategy to the GM, CPO and SVP. I have also recently travelled to meet 4 of our ATL customers in NY and lead their respective EBCs.
