@Liam Anderson Some fair points you've mentioned but I feel like I should speak a bit more on my behalf as the interview was only 13 minutes long and I obviously couldn't go into depth about everything that was covered. I would firstly like to say that I didn't just leave the UK because of financial reasons. I mostly left because I found Youtubers like Brett during Covid living a much better life abroad. I knew that if I worked hard I could make myself a better life living in countries where my money would go further and yes Thailand is one of them. But that's not to say that I only live in these countries because I can get more of a bang for my buck... Instead, I choose to live in countries that improve my quality of life. I see that you live in Thailand yourself, I'm sure you can agree with me that the quality of life here is vastly better than how things are currently back at home. Yes, I mention the Thai food being cheap. But that’s because I choose to eat like the locals do. Working in a cafe and eating food there I could be spending 4/5x that. Also, I’m sure the local street food vendors don’t mind the extra money from me either. Why not save money while travelling? On point #2: I made close friends who are from Europe in a coworking, but that's not to say I don't have any Thai friends. I've dated a Thai girl for 6 months. I spent Christmas with some Thai friends. I guess I didn’t go into detail about making friends with the locals because from my experience it’s much harder to do that considering the language barrier and in the interview I’m reaching out more to remote workers who want to take the plunge, travel abroad alone and meet other people like themselves who are doing the same thing. This is Nomad School after all. Finally, I think we can both agree that Covid and the lockdowns were rough for everyone, regardless of who was implementing the lockdowns. I could go more into my experience about why the lockdowns were especially rough for me but I don’t want to bore you.😉
