UNLOCKING
Why is it that every time I hear, see, or watch something that โ€œunlocksโ€ the fret board, I end up more confused and angry? What are we, or me actually, supposed to know or understand? Could it be that Iโ€™m really missing something key because I have never been good at just straight memorization? I love the guitar but it is also one of the most frustrating things Iโ€™ve ever done. So many days, Iโ€™m so stuck with what to do or where Iโ€™m going that I end up doing nothing.

@Dan Nelson no worries at all. If that's the way you feel that's 100% legit. We all learn in different ways and sometimes those words are just a sales pitch. Take it slowly and learn at your own pace and that't totally cool! Keep up the good work buddy and feel free to ask questions anytime! ๐Ÿ™‚

@Dan Nelson that's great! Your ear is always going to be the final judge. If it sounds good....it's correct! This is the same with chords, scales and anything else you're working on. Same with picking, there are probably as many techniques with picking as guitarists on the planet...LOL. If whatever you are studying works well for you...that's the right way. If it doesn't then we have to find another way but......if it's not broken....don't fix it. ๐Ÿ˜œ Btw, another great thing is to record your practice, like a quick video with your phone, then you can go back to it with a different perspective.
unmotivated
has anybody had the feeling where you're motivated to play or practice guitar for one or two days and the other days you should play or practice you don't feel motivated to pick it up instead you just wanna go online and watch youtube i'm feeling that way right now and can't break that habit

@Ethan Rowland stepping away from the guitar for a couple of days can actually do good, especially if you've been playing for a while. It's kind of like resetting your brain ๐Ÿ˜‰. For me when I go back to practicing I feel I'm playing better. Just don't let the break last too long. Listen to music, maybe something you've never heard before, find new music or check out some instructional videos that will get you motivated to pick up the guitar again. You can also study some theory that doesn't involve playing the instrument but will keep you in contact with music in general. Hope this helps and thanks for sharing! ๐Ÿ‘
Most Emotional Guitar Solo
While we are all impressed with technically perfect shredders, who do you think does a great job of putting emotion into their solos? For example: Eddie Van Halen is an excellent guitarist, but I don't think of his solos as full of emotion. But... Gary Moore was a virtuoso and he jam packed emotions into his solos. Still Got the Blues and Empty Rooms get me in the feels every time I listen to them. Another great example of emotional soloing: Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti on Blackbird. Let's hear your favorite emotion solos.

I'd say Eric Clapton and David Gilmour are great examples of melodic players. Neil Schon from Journey also fits this category. Some super melodic solos on the classic album "Escape". If you're into some jazz check out Pat Metheny (my personal favorite btw ๐Ÿ˜‰) and a great balance of virtuosity and melodic/soulful playing. Also Miles Davis and Chet Baker (not guitarists but super emotional players) I think fast playing is just another technique as important as hitting the right notes at the right time (this is sometimes even harder to do.....) but there should be a balance. For me shredding all the time gets a bit boring. Humble opinion.... ๐Ÿ™Œ
Hey everyone!โœŒ
I'm excited to join this community. I'm new here and eager to learn and connect with fellow producers. Iโ€™m looking to take my skills to the next level. To kick things off, Iโ€™d love to hear about your experiencesโ€”how did you first get into producing, and whatโ€™s been the most rewarding part of your journey so far? Looking forward to learning from you all and contributing where I can. Letโ€™s make some great music together! Cheers! [Your Name]

My Guitar Journey
Hi Everyone, my name is Sebastian. I've been a guitarist for over 20 years and I recently felt like I can say I am an intermediate player. I was taught the basics at first (major and minor chords) but everything else was self-taught. I wanted to advance but I would procrastinate a lot on what to do next. I began to teach myself from the beginning again to remember the basics, and I eventually got a better idea of how to play and improvise. I still have a lot to learn but I'm glad I started taking guitar seriously again and joining more communities with other guitarists.

Hey @Sebastian Amaru . Welcome to the group! Glad to know you're back to studying. This is definitely a life long journey and we never stop learning new things even if we've been playing for a long time. Feel free to ask questions if you need to, I'll be happy to help. ๐Ÿ‘
