I have tried, but not a lot. With my little experience I have found markets aimed at selling art were better- like Art in the Park, as people are going there to look specifically for art.

So definitely Art in the Park in Rondebosch (coming up on 16th November), then I know Century City now has art for sale at the monthly Sunday markets. Local open studios seem to do well, but that’s obviously different to a market. I know an artist who is organising a market in Durbanville in December- Art in the Home. I think it may help to have multiple artists take part in markets- so all artists are marketing to people who enjoy art? Not sure, just my theory.
