Iterated System Backtest
Indicators: RSI: 4h Bollinger Bands: 1W, 4h SRSI: 1D ATR: 4h EMA: 1D, 4h I went on and started a backtest session with all uncorrelated pairs. A lot of the stop losses hit right before going the direction of the position taken. I feel that I can work on getting a better entry, yet to build a system for that. This time I let go of trades I wanted to take, instead of trying to ocnvince myself to be disciplined I had my plan beside my backtesting app so that I could simply use the checklist and say no if it didnt match the system. Helped me a lot not to take stupid trades. Could use some feedback. I want to grind out this system as soon as possible so I can move on to demo trading. Will be taking screenshots from the get go next time I do a demo session

Iterated System Backtest
Backtesting Results
I was becktesting this morning before sleeping. Results were poor and I went on a losing streak. I have gone over and re-read my trading plan to see what I am doing wrong. Currently I am taking the time to sit down and analyse what is going on. I think that I have been taking too many trades that dont fully fit with my initial system and have been forcing trades because I don't want to be sitting out of the market while the pairs I was looking at were providing no real opportunity. I do not think this would be an issue in the live markets as there would be significantly more pairs to look at, but during backtesting it has been tough. Strongly Trending markets are piss poor for this strategy to enter mid way, although entering before the trend begins is great. (my current vibe) I am going to restart my backtest and choose different pairs this time. I had too many correlated pairs. Its time I go back to the beginning of when I started backtesting and start testing that same way as it seems to have given me the most amount of success. Would love some feedback. I am working at this to make a successful strategy

Backtesting
Posted previous backtest and todays backtest screenshots. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy based on: OBV, Stochastic Oscillator, SMAs, Volume indicator Time frames: 1W, 1D, 4h I took about 1.75 hours backtesting. Although I did not enter that many positions, I figured out a few things about myself and my system. I realised that I do not like to be rigid at all times, I like to have SOME flexibility to just say "no I do not want to take this trade, I don't understand it" or "no, I do not want to take this trade because I do not understand my emotions/ internal state at the moment" or "I like this trade, my gut is giving me a good feeling, I have signals ready bar one, I am going to be more careful but be aggresive". Other things I noticed, the system does provide good signals, most of the time the trades do end up hitting profit. If it weren't for myself revenge trading on a backtest late last session, this strategy would be looking a lot hotter 🤣 on the screenshots. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Something I learned about market structure; ------- 1) Sometimes there are bigger moves waiting to happen when key areas on higher time frames are providing signals. I had a few trades which were potential 9:1 R/R trades that I only closed for 2:1 R/R (Cue the revenge trading emotions again because I missed out, this time I just decided not to trade those pairs up until the next divergence came around on the highest time frame I trade). ------- 2) Keeping an eye out for those would be beneficial in the future, although as of right now I am only running a very rudimentary backtest to get a feel of my system and myself. Especially considering if I test dynamic position sizing, those winner could be ALPHA (needs to be tested).

@Aakash Kale thanks for sharing your experience. I will continue backtesting and test this with A/B testing to get a clearer sense of results. Still figuring things out tbh

▶️In progress ~ 5 trades in with this session and calling it a night. The learning curve took a bit longer than expected, but I got the hang of it, pumped a few trades out and now I'm tired lol. Looking forward to the end results to see my areas of improvement, etc.! 💭 @Harvin Singh I found a good example of a Fair Value Gap while back-testing. It's basically an imbalance in the market that needs to get filled eventually. Price will react to this zone like a magnet at some point and below is the perfect example of a 1H FVG zone showing the market pushing straight to it and through it! 💤 Back at it 2mor ~ Happy Trading
