Just finished hosting 50+ Skoolers from around the world in my hometown Belfast. Here's three things I learned to help you plan your first IRL event :) // 1. Don't plan the schedule too strictly Everyone's favourite moments of the week were unplanned. - The unexpected topics we covered - The random places we went for dinner - And the laughs/tears we shared along the way There's a reason why @Sam Ovens and @Alex Hormozi start every single 1-day with a blank page. @Nick Guadagnoli calls it "emergence theory," and it's the secret sauce most IRL events skip. (It took me 7 back-to-back trips to Vegas to finally figure this out lol. Don't take as long as I did). // 2. Leave a little wiggle room for things to "go wrong" Something @Ted Carr and I always talk about is that "the difference between a trip and an adventure is that something goes wrong." - Getting stuck in fog while hiking up a mountain - Forgetting a towel while going sea-swimming - Not having enough chairs because so many people showed up All these things created "shared experiences" for us to go through together — which resulted in super-powerful memories, bonds and stories. We didn't get it all right. But we had a lot of fun along the way. // 3. Your Community is craving in-person connection more than you think. People spent thousands of dollars to fly to Belfast from places like Canada, France, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, United States, and Australia (35 hours). The one reason they came? (According to @Calvin Hollywood) "Proximity," AKA to be around: - Like-minded people - Who are trying to achieve the same goal - And a group where they felt like they belonged This is the reason people joined your community in the first place. Why not take it offline?

I'm not happy with the recent trends in this community. This is a place for genuine conversations and connections with other community owners. This is not a place for you to build your "thought leader" reputation with "4 things I learned in Bali about leadership" type posts and hollow comments. Here's the rules: 1. Don't be annoying 2. No self promotion 3. Don't use chatGPT 4. This isn't LinkedIn: Don't be a "thought leader" (see meme) 5. No engagement farming: Empty content to boost posts and get likes 6. Be positive 7. Make an effort If you see any posts/comments that break these rules - report them. If you're not sure, report them anyway. We're tightening up moderation.

Skool just released a major update that will drastically reduce Churn for all of us - so unless you hate money, make sure to do the following NOW: ❗STEP 1: Record a 1-2 minute cancellation video (you can see mine below) Here's a simple 5-step process I just invented: 1. mention the biggest release that's coming in the next ~30 days 2. offer an exclusive 1-on-1 call with you 3. say the price is increasing soon 4. make them excited about the future 5. clear Call To Action to re-activate the membership Once you record this video, go into your settings, click on "subscriptions" and then the gear icon in top right (see attached screenshot). Keep the video under 2 minutes to avoid overwhelm. ❗STEP 2: Increase your price by at least $10 Why? Because members who want to leave now see a red text showing them the new price is higher than what they are paying (see attached screenshot) . I joined skool January 19th. The two weeks prior, I had no idea what I was going to do with my life. I was working as a remote closer on offers that eventually fiselled out. I didn't have much money to my name and I knew I was destined for more. I'd said the same thing to myself every year. This is the year I will turn my talents into something more. I came to the cross-roads of two different avenues to take. Podcast Advertising (concept) or Skool. I decided to try out the skool thing but didn't really see the value in it until I saw that classic Hormozi photo. There was this concept thrown around, Growth Operating. I had some cool connections and people I knew in my network that I thought "Hey, you could do well at this online community thing" I landed a few people in the next couple weeks of February and started to learn everything I could about skool. I watched videos, podcasts and obsessed over every single thing you could do on skool. The thing with all of this though is that I wasn't making much money. I didn't really hit my first $1000 until about 3 months into skool. Then everything changed. I was awake at 2:30am in the morning when I had this crazy idea to launch a community called GIF (thanks @Goose Dunlavey for the push, I love u) the idea was to build a community just for the memes. So instead of doing something that actually took me from broke to staying afloat, I went more in the rears. (classic I know) GIF took off. Members started joining every day, sometimes 2 members would join, that cha-ching was ringing and I coudln't be happier. But you wanna know who wasn't happy? Everyone around me because I kept telling them "This is going to change my life just stick with me on this". Was posting GIFs really going to change my life? probably not but I just had this utter belief something good was going to come of it. So I stayed broke and stayed stupidly commited to making skool work. GIF got the attention of the people I looked up to, the people who ran skool. It was one of the first communties that proved you could quite literally build a community around any niche topic and if you spoke about it, people would come. I held the party, people showed up. It was my first a-ha moment with skool.
