Tailgating · Tailgating occurs when an unauthorized person follows an authorized individual through a secure entry point (e.g., a door or gate) without the authorized person's knowledge. · Example: A person swipes their access card to open a door, and someone slips in right behind them before the door closes, without the person noticing. Piggybacking · Piggybacking is similar to tailgating, however, in this case the authorized person is aware and permits the unauthorized individual to gain entry knowingly. · Example: An employee holds the door open for someone behind them, who appears to be another employee but does not have an access card.
